Finally the Museo de Málaga is open to the public. After 7 years rehabilitating the building and hosting art pieces that have been hidden to the public for two decades, the Palacio de la Aduana will be opening its doors to the public next Tuesday 13 December as the most important museum in the province, the largest one in Andalusia and one of the biggest in Spain.
At Alcazaba Premium Hostel we have the privilege of being just a few steps away from the Palacio de la Aduana, right beside Málaga’s Alcazaba. We are surrounded by culture not only outside but inside our boutique hostel too… That’s what makes the offering from our hostel in downtown Málaga so unique in the city.
Málaga has a wide range of museums (surely you already know the Picasso Museum or the Thyssen Museum, also very close to our hostel), but this city does not cease in the effort for continuous improvement and gives us now the Museo de Málaga: a free-entrance museum that makes culture available to all.
It hosts a reserve of over 15,000 works of art, of which more than 2700 pieces will be exhibited to the public in the permanent collection: approx. 2000 will be archaeological pieces and nearly 200 pictorial. In addition, there will be another 500 in the storeroom of the Palacio de la Aduana. The ground floor is an area open to the city with a square, benches, trees, cafeteria… a space to be enjoyed by anyone that wants to spend some time in a charming and totally renovated place.
We have all the ingredients to make a perfect day of tourism in Málaga: a nice coffee or cocktail on the design terrace of our hostel in Málaga with wonderful views of the Alcazaba and a visit to enjoy the new facilities of the Museo de Málaga in a historic building, the Palacio de la Aduana. The perfect plan for any day!
