Malaga Cocktail Competition: Carlos Caba, First Award for Young Bartender
We already know the winners of the 37th Cocktail Provincial Competition of the Malaga-Costa del Sol Bartenders’ Association, which was held on 28th June in Benalmadena. During the event, sponsored by Malaga Flavour and the Council of Malaga, the best provincial bartenders gathered to prove what they are capable of. And it was quite an occasion, because the provincial representatives for the next national championship would be elected among the winners.
This provincial Malaga cocktail competition is divided into these categories: Gin Tonic by Schweppes, Long Drink, Best Technique, Best Bartender and Young Bartender. In all categories we saw a wide deployment of technique, creativity and excellent taste in the decoration of the different cocktails with which the jury was delighted by the bartenders. However, the good news for our downtown Malaga hostel arrived in the last category. The bright hope of cocktails in Malaga, Carlos Caba Comba, from our Malaga rooftop bar, received the first award.
However, the good news did not end with Carlos Caba. Premium Group increased its representation in the Cocktail Provincial Competition with Yannick Lopes, La Fábrica’s bartender, who obtained the third place in the same category.
The freshness of cocktails in Malaga are not only provided by their ingredients, but also by their young and brilliant bartenders. Now we just have to wait for the result in the National Competition, which will be held this November in Navarra and… Who knows? Perhaps Carlos eventually brings the name of our Malaga hostel to the Cocktail World Competition!
Our Malaga Hostel Reinforces Its Position within the Malaga Cocktail Bar Scene
At our Malaga rooftop bar we are celebrating once again! This time, the Malaga cocktail expert, Carlos Caba Comba, was proclaimed winner of the 5th Provincial Gin and Tonic Competition, organised by the Malaga-Costa del Sol Bartender’s Association (AB Malaga).
The setting chosen to hold the competition was the Almarina Beach restaurant in Benalmadena. Thus, on October 1st, the restaurant gathered the 11 contestants representing premises from all over the province of Malaga. The test, which consisted of making a signature gin and tonic with premium gins and tonics from the sponsors Tónica Schweppes and Gin G’vine, gave the participants the opportunity to show the excellent level of Malaga cocktails.
Despite the high level of rigorousness in the competition, Carlos Caba won with his Winning Gin: Peach Gin Alcazaba. This delicious cocktail features Gin G’Vine June Peach, Campari, grapefruit juice, Rives Peach Liqueur and Schweppes Tonic with hints of lime. In addition, decorated with lemon and grapefruit peel and an edible flower, it gets its exclusive Premium touch. And it’s already available in our Malaga Rooftop Bar! You should definitely come and give it a try!
Now you know: The Malaga cocktails that could conquer the national scene are within your reach at La Terraza de la Alcazaba. Don’t hesitate to come and taste them. We will be waiting for you!
